What`s biomass?

Anything alive (Trees, crops, garbage, or animal wast)
We sometimes use biomass for heat. Like wood burning.
It gets its energy from the sun. When we eat it, the energy comes into us and makes us move. We can change biomass into gas or liguid fuels.

Is it renewable or nonrenewable?

It`s renewable meaning we can make more. We plant new trees and cut down others. If we take care of the soil we can grow new crops.

We use biomass every day.

Animals get energy from biomass. Energy that we eat comes from plants. 150 years ago biomass gave people most energy. People burn wood to cook food.

Biomass to eletricity

Biomass can be turned into eletricity. Some towns burn biomass for electricity. This is called wast-to-energy. It doesn`t pollute as bad as oil.

Biomass can make methane

Biomass can be turned into methane. A natural gas used in your furnases or stoves. In China many farmers use methane.

Biomass can make ethanol

Ethanol is a fuel a lot like gasoline. It costs more than gasoline. Also renewable.

    thanks, bye
